I know the "i"prefix is WAY overused, but I couldnt help to think how much i dislike my PC now. Although, when you go above and beyond previous performance, it isn't just replacing... But here it is, my second reflective deviation.

So what exactly is better about mac? You say "Although, when you go above and beyond previous performance, it isn't just replacing..." What PC did you have? Yes, if you pay more for a mac, than it will have more performance than the PC, but macs DO NOT have more performance than PCs, and they are not better.

Is a 1000 dollar PC equal to a 1000 dollar mac, in terms of performance? No. Think about the macbook pro. The cheapest is 1200 bucks. It has an i5 2.8ghz dual core only, only 4gb ram, only 500gb 5400rpm hdd, AND only a 13 inch screen. I know for a fact that a year ago, you could buy an 18 inch 8gb ram, i7 with a 1tb 7200rpm hdd.
So PC has better bang for buck.

The mac OS is easier for people who don't know much about computers, I'll give them that, but for actually doing stuff...

Few games are released for mac, so if you are a gamer, PC is better. If you are using any 3d program like 3ds max or blender, PC is better because you have more RAM, better processor, and faster HDD. Also if you are doing any video/picture edititing/animating, PC is better because more RAM, better processor, and faster HDD. If you are just browsing the internet, they are equal.

About the OS, on a mac, you need to open a whole program just to format a drive. On a PC you right click and click format. Mac is designed to do simple tasks, or for people who like shiny logos. You can pay more for a fancier macbook pro, but for that price, the PC would be better.
